Valerie's Steelers Quilt

I started this quilt in March, 2002, after the Pittsburgh Steelers won the eastern division championship
and was 1 game away from the Super Bowl. Unfortuneately, the Steelers did not make it to the Super Bowl,
but I was inspired. My Aunt Valerie was a major fan and for some unknown reason I rushed to the
fabric store and bought Steelers fabric. The quilt squares were mostly cut out and ready to be sewn,
but having to "fussy cut" the Steelers fabric (that means to cut out individual squares around the
Steelers logo), I quickly lost steam. Pulling out the quilt the week before Christmas (and having just
moved December 9th), I managed to get the quilt and a coordinating pillow finished on Christmas Eve.
The quilt wasn't as big as I had hoped, but it turned out to be a great lap size quilt. The quilt was
machine pieced, binding machine attached and tied.

These pillow panels were originally to be incorporated into the center of the quilt, but it ended up not
working because they are not perfectly square, so it looked funny when I tried to place them into the quilt.
