Playhouse Quilt 2004
Made over three days, June 15-17, 2004, using all stash fabrics.
The blocks started out as 10” squares from a BRIGHTS swap on about.com's
quilting forum in the spring/summer of 2002. I sewed the blocks all
together to finish the top Tuesday night. Wednesday I did the backing,
binding and quilting –outline quilting on my machine. I ended up using
three different colors of thread to quilt as I kept running out! Thursday
night after work I finished sewing the binding on by hand. I tried fusible
batting for the first time and LOVE it! For the binding, I took scraps
of fabric, some used in the quilt top, others not, and pieced them together
to help bring out the fun look. My husband, although he thinks it's bright
and cheerful, did ask if the blocks were supposed to be all crooked! ;-)
I tossed around several names for the quilt, all having to do with brightness,
sunglasses and being crooked – we finally ended up with Playhouse F******
(our last name) – as it’s a play quilt for the girls (now I’m going to
have to make one for my son too!). Finished size 40"x48".

This is the back of the quilt, made out of 6 uncut fat quarters.

Thanks goes to Susan S. from about.com for the glow in the dark rams!
